Explore the Largest Show Cave in the Rhodope Mountains
With a total gallery length of more than 8.5 kilometres, Yagodina Cave is the longest cave in the Rhodope Mountains and one of the largest cave systems in Bulgaria. Inside, visitors can enjoy a comfortable year-round temperature of 6-8°C, making it a perfect destination in any season.
The cave consists of three levels, with the lowest tier specially equipped for visitors. Well-maintained pathways and lighting allow you to admire its remarkable underground formations up close.
Journey Through Spectacular Cave Chambers
Your adventure begins in the famous New Year's Hall, a unique chamber traditionally decorated with a Christmas tree by local cavers during the holiday season. As you continue deeper into the cave, you'll discover the fascinating Ritual Hall, a popular location for couples seeking an unforgettable and unconventional wedding ceremony.
A World of Natural Wonders
Yagodina Cave is home to an incredible variety of cave formations created over thousands of years. Marvel at naturally coloured formations resembling leopard skin, elegant stone draperies, delicate stone roses, coral-like structures, and even rare cave pearls.
Every chamber reveals new geological masterpieces, making the cave a paradise for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers.
Discover Ancient Human History
The natural entrance of the cave, located approximately one kilometre away from the tourist entrance, is one of the area's most important archaeological sites. Excavations have uncovered evidence of prehistoric human settlement from the Eneolithic period, including ceramic vessels, tools, ancient pottery, and remnants of early human life.
Today, this historic entrance has been transformed into a small museum, offering a glimpse into the lives of the people who once inhabited the region thousands of years ago.
